Diwali is one such festival of India that nearly all the people of our country, irrespective of their religion, celebrate in a very cheerful way.

Someone observing Diwali from space would see the lights, the brightness, and the fireworks that fill the air as Diwali is celebrated.

This post will provide information about Diwali, its origin, why it gets celebrated, and other necessary information about it.

About the festival of Diwali

Throughout the world, Diwali is more commonly known as 'the festival of lights’, but it also goes by the name Deepawali in India.

Diwali symbolizes the deletion of all the negativity and darkness from our lives.

Indian people celebrate Diwali because after Lord Rama ended the game of Ravana by killing him (the day we now know as Dussehra), it took him 20 days to return to his homeland Ayodhya from King Ravana's homeland Lanka.

Happy Diwali

(And that is why the auspicious festival of Diwali gets celebrated after 20 days we celebrate Dussehra.)

All the people during that time got the news of Ravana's assassination by Lord Rama, and they could not wait for enough to celebrate the joy of his victory with Lord Rama in his Kingdom.

After 20 days, when Lord Rama returned to Ayodhya with his brother Lakshmana, his greatest devotee Hanumana, and other companions, people became so delighted that they lit diyas and candles outside and inside their homes.

Since that day, we have been celebrating the day of Lord Rama's return as the auspicious festival of Deepawali.

The uncommon thing that happens on the day of Deepawali is that we feel a sense of positivity and optimism inside our heads and bodies, raising our vibration level and frequency.

The positivity, optimism, and higher vibrational frequency establish the significance of this festival and how important it is among Indian people.

One of the most noteworthy things about the festival of Diwali is that this festival is not celebrated all around the world, just by Hindus.

It is also celebrated with an equal level of passion and devotion by Buddhists, Jains, and Sikhs.

And not only that, the festival of Deepawali is not only celebrated in India but also in North American countries like the United States of America (USA), Canada and also in Middle East countries like the United Arab Emirates (UAE)

As a matter of fact, the lightning of the tallest building in the world, Burj Khalifa (Dubai), during the day of Diwali in 2021, caught the attention of countries all over the world and even the countries who were unfamiliar with the festival of lights before that got aware about it.

Activities of this kind show how vital the festival of Diwali is, not just to India but also to other countries in the world.

How do people celebrate Diwali in India?

1) People celebrate the auspicious festival of Diwali in a very exuberant manner.

On the day of Diwali, people deep clean their houses and also paint them significantly so that they look new.

It has been cited from significantly earlier times that by doing these cleaning activities, we welcome the Goddess Lakshmi to our houses, the goddess of Wealth.

Although the day is purely dedicated to Lord Rama, Indian people also dedicate it to the other almighty, like the Goddess Lakshmi, Lord Hanuman, and Lord Ganesha.

That is why you will see the day of Diwali starting with Ganesh pooja in most places.

2) During Deepawali, Indians wear their finest traditional clothes, which make them look stunning; they also wear new clothes, which reflect their novelty.

3) The auspicious occasion of Diwali marks the day of positive exchange as people give sweets and gifts to each other.

The strong bond between people gets strengthened through this exchange, and their fondness gets enhanced.

4) For thousands of years, it has remained a tradition among Indian people to decorate their homes with candles and diyas on the day of Diwali.

This tradition is still present in Indian culture, along with candles and diyas; people also decorate their homes with rangolis and all.

5) To celebrate Diwali with even more joy, people buy some materialistic stuff like a new gadget, a new vehicle, or anything new that has recently arrived in the market.

6) In the corporate world, the festival of Diwali is the best-celebrated festival. The employers of a company share gifts and sweets with all their staff members.

And also, the staff members receive bonuses in their salary during the time of Deepawali.

An entire day before Deepawali, nearly every corporate company in India performs the Ganesh puja, the Lakshmi puja, and all the rituals associated with the festival.
