Vijay Diwas is celebrated in the entire India on 16th December to honor our brave soldiers of the Indian armed forces for the victory over Pakistan in the 1971 war.
This day is celebrated to pay tribute to all the soldiers who defended the nation from outer forces. The creation of Bangladesh is the result of this victory over Pakistan.
The Indo-Pakistan war began on December 3, 1971. The war lasted for 13 days and Indian armed forces officially ended the war on December 16 by accepting the surrender of Pakistan to India.
This war resulted due to the widespread genocide of East Pakistan’s people by some military regime under General Yahya Khan of Pakistan. To end this, the Indian armed forces launched Operation Trident on December 4.
After this thirteen-day war, Pakistani forces completely surrendered and helped in the creation of Bangladesh. East Pakistan also became independent from Pakistan.
When we remember this day, it was the ‘Greatest Ever Victory’ of India and we rose as a powerful nation in the eyes of the world.
It was a historic war for India and that is why we celebrate December 16 as ‘Vijay Diwas’ to celebrate the grand victory of India over Pakistan.
On 16th December, India defeated Pakistani Forces and finished the 1971 Indo-Pak War the liberation of Bangladesh resulted from this brutal war and these people found independence from long-time suppression and political attacks from Pakistani people.
Over 93,000 Pakistani troops surrendered unconditionally to Indian Forces led by Lieutenant General Jagjit Singh Aurora and it is one of the largest surrenders since World War II.
The Indo-Pak War showcased the brilliant Indian Military strategy and leadership led by Field Marshal Sam Manekshaw, General J.F.R. Jacob, and General Jagjit Singh Aurora.
This war became an example for the world as India emerged as a regional power and earned global recognition for its massive victory. The India win also redefined geopolitical equations.
This day is celebrated every year in India to honor the contributions of our Army Veterans who made this victory for India and made India strong.
DIDM salutes our Indian Armed Forces and honors the bravery and sacrifice of the soldiers who fought in the war.
Vijay Diwas is a day to celebrate the victory of India and remember the courage of our military brothers and sisters who sacrificed themselves to make our nation strong.
This is the day to recognize the strong spirit that defines India. Every Indian should celebrate Vijay Diwas with pride and gratitude.
