The story of Dussehra revolves around two important events in the mythological history. The first event is the Ramayan Epic tale where lord Ram had a fierce battle with the demon King Ravana who is 10-headed. This fierce battle lasted for 10 days and lord Ram defeated Ravan. This victory significance the triumph of patience and truth over injustice and arrogance. Lord Lord Ram had success in rescuing his wife ‘Maa Sita’ from the Ravan's captivity and that's why Dussehra is celebrated as a symbol of victory of good over evil.
The second story about the Dussehra celebration is the victory of Goddess Durga over the powerful demon King Mahishasur. As per Hindu mythology, Mahishasur was a buffalo demon king who terrified the world with his invincibility and to vanish him, the goddess Durga came and after a long battle, the goddess found victory. The day when the goddess Durga emerged victorious is known as Vijayadashami - the day of victory. This story highlights the power of divine feminine energy and the eternal fight against destructive forces.
